Video Tour Diary Day 2: Flying Solo, Tattooing Yale & Clam Pizza

Tour

Phew, we made it through Day Two.

The number one lesson: there are limits to free social media. Turns out that relying on YouTube and our live streaming for daily broadcast sharing was more frustrating than we expected.

But we persevered and kept with the program. Our first stop was with Rebel Susan Cartier Liebel, founder of Solo Practice University. We invited our readers to participate in her interview by suggesting questions and concerns they have about hanging out their own shingles. Liebel took on five reader queries.

While we waited for Liebel's video to be edited and uploaded, two members of the crew headed to New Haven for a little guerrilla marketing on the Yale Law campus. We plastered the bulletin boards with our exclusive Legal Rebels temporary tattoos for the students to use. We were back again later that night for some famous Pepe's Pizza. The RoadFood.com review was dead on. Superb eats.

And here's our poppy photo-music mashup of the day:

Hey guys…it was a lot of fun.  Just some points of clarification (for the nitpickers out there), I graduated in December 1994 so.. licensed to practice less than 17 years. And as I indicated in the video and always on my about page, I started my practice right out of law school with two other new grads, eventually going solo and then officially closed my practice in August 2007 to start developing SPU :-)

I’m glad you loved Pepe’s pizza and had fun on the Yale campus.  Try to get some sleep!!!

Fun stuff guys. See you tomorrow (or later today).  And Moby’s Southside is a good choice….

OK.  I can well see the Tour Crew is still struggling with this “Song of the Day” concept.  Still stuck at the point of talking the words, and to only a line or two (kind of William Shatner-like, but credit for trying, really).  The thing is (and I hope I’m not alone in this), it truly is music that makes the song.  I mean, without that, you’ve got nothing, so it really is very important.  I certainly encourage the crew to take that next, small step of actually putting the music in there, and singing at least those few lines from the songs you’ve chosen.  I’m sure you can do it, and the fans will love it, and by the end of the tour, who knows?  Maybe a whole song will break out.  The Kingston Trio would do it.  Peter, Paul and Mary would do it.  Onstage.  I have the utmost faith that the ‘09 Legal Rebels Tour Crew can do it too.  I, for one, will be waiting on pins and needles.

Wonderful!  Try the eggplant/bacon pie at Modern on State Street—the white clam pie at Amato just down the street—or the pepperoni at Luigi’s in North Haven.
