Video Tour Diary Day 9: School’s Focus on Skills; Vehicle Parked
Tour
We said goodbye to our tour vehicle today, but not before giving it one final whirl.
At the crack of dawn, or so it seemed, we hit the road for a three-hour drive to Lexington, Va., the home of Washington & Lee School of Law, where Dean Rodney Smolla has spearheaded an innovative third-year program with a strong emphasis on practice skills.
Smolla couldn't meet with us, so we were delighted to interview Assistant Dean Mary Natkin and two students who transferred to WLU law after hearing about the 3L program:

Great on-the-road footage today, as the Tour Crew seemed in high spirits (or perhaps just finally getting punchy).
John in particular was finally getting in some zingers, and a fairer share of the on-camera time.
Thanks to Rachel for the wave. I also enjoyed the sly comment about Molly’s “off the shoulder action.” On the issue of radar detectors, I believe “Fuzzbuster” was only one brand. In the era where detectors were common, they tended to not work all that well. The police doppler receptors were more sensitive, so by the time the detector got enough signal to alert, the police units usually already had the speed locked in.
More fun driving by Molly (and I liked the question on “speed enforced by radar”). I am sure Ed was just joking about practicing for a transit job.
I shall miss the talking vehicle. Farewell, Oh talking vehicle. Now, I will have to get used to the crew without their signature black SUV.
